Frequently Asked Questions
Timing FAQs
Do athletes really look for results?
Absolutely! Athletes eagerly check their race results, as it gives them insight into their performance and something to celebrate after all their hard work.
Are professional timing services affordable for start-up races?
Yes, we offer a variety of pricing options to fit different budgets, ensuring even new or small races can benefit from professional timing services.
If I don’t wear my timing chip will I still be included in the results?
Yes, we have backup systems in place to ensure every participant's time is recorded, even if a chip isn't worn.
Where should I wear my timing chip?
Reusable hip tags should be pinned to your hips, while bib tags should be pinned flat to your chest without any folds to ensure accurate reads.
Can you handle wave or rolling starts?
Definitely! We use chip timing for both starts and finishes, allowing us to seamlessly handle wave or rolling starts without any impact on accuracy.
Can timing chips be reused for multiple events?
Yes! Our eco-friendly reusable hip tags can be used again and again, reducing waste, while bib tags are designed for single-use convenience.
How accurate is RFID chip timing compared to manual timing methods?
RFID chip timing is extremely accurate, often down to fractions of a second, and much more reliable than manual timing, particularly for large events.
How quickly will participants have access to their results post-race?
For road and trail races, participants can access their results almost immediately after crossing the finish line, provided there’s reliable cell service in the area. For high school and middle school cross country, hard-copy results will be available at the finish line, and digital results will be posted to MileSplit.com at the end of the event.
What other data can you provide with results?
In addition to overall time, we provide data such as team rankings, individual placement, age group standings, split times, and average pace.
Sponsorship FAQs
What does sponsoring a race include?
Sponsorship typically includes brand visibility (logos on shirts, banners, signage, and marketing materials), recognition on race day, and opportunities to engage directly with participants. You also have the option to choose the local nonprofit organization you’d like your race to benefit.
Do sponsors need to be present at the event?
Not necessarily. Your sponsorship will still be recognized through race materials and announcements even if you can't attend. However, having a table or staff on-site can increase visibility and community engagement.
How is sponsor visibility guaranteed during the event?
We highlight sponsors through a combination of digital promotions, race-day signage, announcements, branded materials, and social media features. We’ll work with you to ensure your brand is seen in the ways that matter most to you.
How does sponsoring a race benefit my business?
Race sponsorship builds strong goodwill in the community, increases brand recognition, supports health and wellness initiatives and local nonprofit organizations, and puts your business in front of a motivated, engaged local audience. It’s a great way to show community support while promoting your brand.
Are sponsorships tax-deductible?
Each of our races supports a nonprofit partner, so part or all of your sponsorship may be tax-deductible. We can provide documentation from the nonprofit entity if applicable. Always consult with a tax professional to confirm.
How early should we secure sponsorship?
The earlier the better—ideally 3-6 months before the event. Early sponsorship ensures your logo appears on marketing materials, event shirts, and promotional campaigns without missing any print or design deadlines.
What types of businesses typically sponsor local races?
We partner with a wide range of businesses, including outdoor and fitness brands, medical and wellness providers, real estate agencies, banks, restaurants, retail shops, and more. Any business looking to support the community and connect with local athletes is a great fit.
Can we provide giveaways or prizes as part of our sponsorship?
Yes! Participants love useful or fun items—gift cards, swag, samples, and raffle prizes. These items help boost brand visibility and add value to the race experience.
Do sponsors get access to participant data?
For participant privacy, we don’t share personal data. However, we can provide general demographic information (e.g., age range, number of participants, hometown distribution) and promotional opportunities that help you connect with the audience appropriately.
